The country’s largest Asian American street gang is known as the Tiny Rascal Gang (TRG), an organized crime group based in Long Beach, California and consists of mostly Cambodian immigrants.
On October 22nd, gang member Aushoun Simmons, 22, was shot and killed by a fellow gang member after refusing “an order to do a shooting himself.” Ultimately, officers arrested Aaron “Snub” Chang, 26, in connection with the murder of Simmons and confiscated a “snub-nose” revolver and five pounds of marijuana.”
After Simmons was killed, five additional cases of “gun violence erupted in both southwest and southeast Fresno.” Consequently, the MAGEC gang squad, Violent Crime Impact Team, and other officers were challenged with taking down the gang members to end the retaliatory violence. Fortunately, 19 thugs were arrested and 12 weapons were seized.
Although the shootings appear to be increasing, statistics show that they’ve actually fallen “from 290 in 2012, to 275 in 2013, to 225 in 2014.”
Fresno officers continue to keep their eyes open, aiming to take down TRG in a determined effort to protect the residents of the city.
