Once an inspiration to black people across the world, Dr. Ben Carson has morphed into an ultra-conservative, right-wing homophobe, that has taken precedence in individualism over the collective welfare of black people.
His strong conservative principles and policies, including the “pull yourself up by your bootstraps and white society will accept you” philosophy makes him the poster child for Republicans. Consequently, Carson’s achievements in medicine and as a Neurosurgeon isn’t what he is renown for. At this point, black people tend to recognize him for his insults, especially those that reproves their community.

Nevertheless, before his hypocrisy overshadowed his ability to reason and empathize with those that are combating the same struggles he was able to conquer, Carson was a proud, pro-black man.
In the video below during an interview, Carson confidently regurgitated a series of black inventors, both men and women, that he proclaimed made him proud to be a black man.
