Citizen journalist for HuffPost Jeremy Nix wrote an open letter to his “Friends who support Donald Trump,” challenging them to question their moral compass as they support someone, “As hateful, sexist, racist and ignorant as Donald Trump.” And oh boy did the “Trumpets” come out from every direction to defend their positions.
Nix’s letter contains very compelling points, magnifying how Trump’s ability to use hateful rhetoric to incite supporters suggests that his followers are just as “hateful” as he is. Furthermore, he suggests that Trump’s “virulent” position on religion, race, and women is simply “irresponsible” and “dangerous,” to say the least.
Nix insinuates that Trump’s idea to “make America great again” encourages colonial propaganda by using incognito rhetoric to service the bigoted populace:
“Back when gay people had to hide in fear, back when people of any other color than white had to worry about getting lynched, back when it was okay to openly hate? Do you think empowered women will suddenly quit their jobs and go back to the kitchen?”
Needless to say, Trump supporters didn’t appreciate these bold charges made against them. Therefore, they fired back with the real reasons why they not only disagree with Nix’s arguments against a Trump presidency, but also why they believe Trump “Will Make America Great again.”
